J. Crew Clothing Company

J. Crew has been steadily growing and establishing itself as leader in the fashion industry for quite sometime now. The very first catalog was put out in 1983 and quickly started to grow into the household name that they are known as today. Today they are known for being an essential American style brand that produces fun but sophisticated clothing and accessories for both kids and adults.

Since its humble beginnings, J. Crew has been able to grow into a company that is near to the hearts of many Americans. They have also been able to gain the trust of consumers as being a reputable clothing manufacturer that produces quality clothing for a fair price. This is one of the major reasons that they have been able to have the success that they have had. It has also allowed them to solidify there position as leader within the industry and continue down the road of success that they have been on since their inception.

The first store that J. Crew ever opened was in 1989 in New York City. The store was located on South Street and was a huge success for the company and set up the infrastructure that they needed to expand as a company. Since that humble first store opening, the company has grown dramatically. J. Crew is now available in over 200 retail stores as well as around 70 outlet stores. In 1996, they also launched their online store which was one of the first companies that decided to take this route. Obviously, this was a very good decision on part of J. Crew since the internet and online stores have been big business for clothing companies in more recent years. This was also a big step forward for the company at the time. This allowed customers them to offer their customers a more in-depth experience of being able to be hands on, in a sense, with the purchasing of J. Crew clothing. This made it possible for customers to have a more immersive experience, being able to select colors and patterns for their clothing and even have access to products that weren’t sold in retail and outlet stores. Great innovations like this are part of the reason that J. Crew has been able to stay steps ahead of the competition and cement their position as a leader in the clothing industry. This is also the reason that they have been able to gain the trust of the consumers and remain just a big name in the industry. Although the company has been able to expand the J. Crew brand so rapidly, they have no plans of slowing down with more stores slated to open in 2008. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that J. Crew will continue to have success and grow into a worldwide clothing company that can compete with all of the other major brands. Don’t expect to see J. Crew to go away anytime soon.
