Tanning Bed
Everyone loves the look of the golden sun kissed tan. However, not many of us have time to stand out in the sun. If your goal is to achieve the look of the day at the beach without the effort there are several available ways for going about getting a golden tan. In order to achieve the look you desire you can either way out in the sun for several hours, use goopy creams that leave you orange and streaky, or you can simply spend a few minutes in the tanning bed of your choosing.
Tanning beds get a bad rap for many skin care professionals. However, science has proven them wrong. In fact, some doctors actually recommend spending some time in a tanning bed to help boost the body’s production of vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiencies are linked to a great many various health problems. Vitamin D deficiencies are linked with osteoporosis, arthritis, depression, mental instability, cancer, acne, the common cold, and the list goes on and on. As a result of this, instead of requesting the people sit outside for hours, many doctors have suggested spending a few minutes in a tanning bed at least three times a week to help boost the body’s production of vitamin D.
Tanning is also been proven to increase personal self-esteem. Many people are very open about the fact that having tan helps them feel better about themselves. It’s common knowledge that a golden tan helps the body appear more fit and even thinner.
The reason doctors are treating tanning beds, is because of the timesaving properties. Most of us don’t have time to spend hours in the sun. And with the ongoing effects of global warming, the sun has become hotter making it more difficult for our bodies to tolerate long periods of time out outdoors. So, much of the recent people like to use tanning beds as opposed to spending time in the sun boils down to convenience.
Interestingly, research indicates that the number of people using tanning beds is just as high in southern, warm and sunny states as it is in the northern states where winter days are more prominent. Another interesting fact is that statistically as many men utilize tanning beds as do women.
While tanning beds are extremely popular, and it’s finally been proven beneficial for our health and well-being, it’s also important to acknowledge the fact you have to use tanning beds with caution. Spending too much time in a tanning bed is just as detrimental as spending too much time in the sun. You can still get a sunburn in a tanning bed, Tanning beds can still cause premature aging if not used properly, and the less used with caution in tanning beds can also damage the eyes (meaning, you should always use those little goggles).
If you plan to continually use a tanning bed, it’s also very important that you have originated skincare routine. Caring for your skin on a regular basis will make you more aware of the treatment you give it both in and out of the tanning bed. It’s a good idea to have your dermatologist regularly examine your skin for any changes, and should a problem arise, have it addressed immediately.
