H&M…An Untouchable Fashion Retailer

No. I’ve never worked for H&M.  In fact, I’ve never worked in retail, but it doesn’t suprise me that they’re not being too hard hit by the recession.  The fact that there was a long line out the door for the famous Comme des Garcons/H&M collection, shows that some fashionistas would rather stop eating out than give up their sense of style.

Why is H&M untouchable?

They stick to current trends- This winter, the mini-dress is still in, and this retail giant has them by the boatloads. Only thing is you need to add tights and a colorful fitted jacket to finish the job.

But they keep it Classic- The little black dress. Almost every woman has one, or should. H&M also has them, in the current style, and now we’re seeing the return of the classic feminine look that is fitted, but not too tight. Perfect for that cocktail hour, and add on a cardigan for a more understated, but feminine look.

Price. Price. Price. – Keeping prices low which is always popular, but especially in these rough Economic times. No matter how bad our Economy gets, women like to look nice, even it’s just putting on lipstick and wearing a favorite dress. A truism.

Collaborations are all the rage- Madonna has done it, and now Commes des Garcons. Now the reality is that most women love to look at all the exclusive fashion lines in Vanity Fair and Vogue, but $5,000 for a pair of shoes or the latest dress from Zac Posen? I don’t think so. So, these “discount” clothing lines make women feel as though we’re one of those fashion buyers, picking up the latest styles. And we got the best deal.

At the end of the day, you’re the one who needs to put the outfit together to create your own sense of style. You don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to create an outfit that makes you feel gorgeous, sexy, and confident. Figure out what looks good on you, and rock it!
