Which little girl did not grow up without a few Barbies in her doll collection? I remember having the United Nations of Barbie dolls including ‘My Barbie’ BBQ, bedroom set, car, and many other items. I would make clothes for them, put on plays with them, and take them everywhere I went. Now, of course, my obsession is shoes and the designer du jour is the one and only Christian Louboutin. Every shoe he creates is like a piece of art. I can only afford one every blue moon, but it’s worth it.

Next year is Mattel’s 50th Birthday and Barbie, being the icon that she has been for almost half a century, is celebrating in style. Christian Louboutin has been enlisted by Mattel to design a pair of pumps for Barbie.

They will be made out of the well-known Barbie Pantone 219 Pink. They are going to be unveiled at the Mattel runway show during New York’s Fashion Week next February. To add to the celebration, Mattel will also be working with 50 designers, yet-to-be-named, to produce Barbie-inspired outfits for the show.

I’m sure Mattel is going to put on quite the show. Should be a huge draw for the New York Fashion community. Can’t wait!
