I do not know how these people do it, but there are some gingerbread houses on Flickr that make my jaw drop. Like this one, pictured right from Flickr user ninabradica.
The details… I have no words. I can not even begin to imagine all the time and effort put into icing the shingles and dotting the shingles with those colorful bead like candies. I don’t think I have even the third of the patience required to line the doorway and windowsills. The icicles and the snowman are beyond incredible. Wow.
Oh, and the reason I know how much effort actually goes into a gingerbread house is from experience. The one time I even attempted to construct one, it turned out all sorts of wrong. I purchased a kit, and one would think a kit would be simple enough, right? WRONG. I followed all the directions and it turned out like a three year old constructed it. How is that even possible?
I should have just bought the personalized pre-built one from LL Bean. It’s 79.00 and cheating, but would’ve saved a lot of embarrassment.
Have you ever made one?

I haven't made one myself....but I watched an entire class of 2nd graders make some last week and none looked even close to that nice. The teacher's husband made one that had a hot tub in the back and all, I was amazed.
