Taiwanese born designer, Jason Wu, came into the national consciousness after Michelle Obama wore his raw silk dress on a taping of the Barbara Walters special, which Jason said took him 100 hours to complete.
Who is this designer? He was born and raised in Taipei, and was lucky enough to have travelled around the world since he was just a child. He started his career by designing dolls and then headed to New York City, where he enrolled in the Parsons School of Design.
Soon after, he interned for Narcisco Rodriguez and then started dressing notable names such as Ivanka Trump, and Amber Valetta as well as receiving this year’s Fashion Group International’s Rising Designer Award. Top that off with dressing the First lady who is not only known for her smarts but her classic fashion sense. Just goes to show that for this 25 year old rock start designer, the only way to go is up.
