2009 Golden Globe Awards Fashion

The Golden Globes offered some interesting trends for the fashionistas out there. The hair must be up, the dress must be strapless or vee’d down to the navel, and the fabric must be flowy.

Hair: It’s the year of the chignon. A rat’s nest of ladies sported back-swept ‘dos.

Dresses: Down-to-there necklines and strapless were the styles of the day with few variations. Skirts were flowy, and mostly full.

Sleeveless with vee down to just above the navel:

Strapless:

Flowy skirts:

Fabrics: Satin held its own, but delicate, gauze-like fabric was the clear fashion winner this year.

Golden Globe Fashion Winners:

Best: Jenna Fischer – great floral gown; best pick for standing out – the “risk” worked.

Modesty Maven: Laura Dern – style without showing the “girls”

Best Cleavage: Salma Hayek – I wish I had those!

More Great Cleavage: Beyonce - I’d take those, too.

Class Personified: Kate Winslet – Simple, classy, and elegant.

Porcelain Skin and Elegance: Anne Hathaway – A vision of loveliness.

Golden Globe Fashion Losers:

Worst: Olivia Wilde in a lavender lacey-frilly thing; look for it in the “Worst” lists.

Scary: Heidi Klum – black bubble skirt and huge red flower; just…. scary.

Misplaced Bustle: Eva Mendes – I think the seamstress got a little turned around and lop-sided.

Pepto Bismal Toga Mishap: Cameron Diaz – Yep, it really looks like that, and I think she forgot to do her hair.

80′s Throwback (or Throw Up?): Drew Barrymore – Light blue cloud with sleeves that look like they won’t stay up, and huge 80′s bouffant.

80′s Pouffy Shoulder Thing: Maggie Gyllenhaal – I wonder where she got that 80′s print fabric?
