Ugly Betty Episode Recap January 21, 2009

This week’s episode of Ugly Betty continues to give us lots of twists, turns and surprises to keep us in suspense as to what is going to happen. Of course Betty (America Ferrera) leaks something that she shouldn’t have and has to find a way to get it back. Her family is put on the back burner and of course it causes problems with their relationships.

This weeks episode begins with Betty’s father, Ignacio (Tony Plana), being sent home from the hospital after having his heart attack. Everyone is being overly protective of him, thinking that every cough is something tragic. Since her father has been in the hospital, she has not been to her apartment. Upon returning she finds the house a mess with food everywhere and roaches. She has also been away from her job at Mode, where she finds her desk is piled high with mail and work that has not been completed.

The drama continues at Mode as Wilhilmina is caught after having an affair with Conner (Grant Bowler). They both show up to the office with tan lines from ski goggles they got while snowboarding together. Wilhilmina realizes is too obvious, so she covers the lines with make-up. She begins to miss meetings because her and Conner begin locking themselves in her office to have sex. Wilhilmina’s assistant, Marc (Michael Urie) becomes worried that word is going to get out and Conner’s girlfriend, Molly (Sara Lafleur) will find out.

While all of this is happening, Betty and her sister, Hilda (Ana Ortiz) are fighting because they cannot agree with the care that each is giving their father. Betty thinks Hilda is not doing enough to care for him, so she decides to take over all the care of him. Betty is given the information of a doctor, Dr. Farber, that is supposed to be the top of the line. After finding the Hilda only spoke with the original doctor over the phone, she takes their father into see Dr. Farber. While he is having tests done, she gets a phone call from work and finds out that pictures were sent to the wrong place. She leaves him at the hospital having tests done to go and get the pictures back before they cause problems for her boss, Daniel (Eric Mabius). The pictures are of a vacation that Daniel and Conner’s girlfriend, Molly took together in Paris. Neither of them want the public to find out about their relationship.

After getting the pictures back, she returns to the hospital, only to find that her father finished his testing early and is missing. Betty called Hilda and they begin looking for him, although all this does is cause a huge fight between the two of them. After Hilda makes Betty realize that in many circumstances Betty puts her work before her family, Justin (Mark Indalicato) calls to let them know that Ignacio has made it back home safely. After everyone is reunited, Ignacio makes the announcement that he is going to hire a nurse come and assist him because he does not want to burden the girls anymore.

Although Betty was able to stop Daniel and Molly’s photos from being published, another photo was released and Molly can be seen in the background. She is holding hands with Daniel, although he has been cut out of the picture. Conner notices someone in the elevator reading the magazine and takes it from him to take a closer look.

So what will happen on the next episode? What mess with Betty cause? What is going to happen with Conner and Molly now that he has seen the picture? Will he find out that Molly is seeing Daniel? We won’t find out for another two weeks. Next week will be a repeat episode, so just hang in there.
