
On February 12, 2009 Fox will be airing the 40th Annual NAACP Awards at 8PM. The NAACP Image Awards celebrate the achievements of minorities in America, through their accomplishments in the arts and entertainment industry.
Oscar winner Halle Berry and critically acclaimed director Tyler Perry will be the hosts of the NAACP Awards. Another Oscar winner and former American Idol contestant, Jennifer Hudson, is scheduled to be the headlining performer at this years’ awards.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will be celebrating their 100th year in existence at this year’s award show. On February 12, 1909, a group of 60 prominent African American’s decided to create a civil rights organization that dealt with the inequalities facing African American’s in the United States. As of today, the NAACP is one of the most influential civil rights groups in America and continues to grow; both in membership and sponsorship.
