What is the deal with American Idol’s 2009 elimination rules and the wild card? Now they are only letting the top female, top male and next highest vote getter advance to the next round. This seems a bit extreme. I mean why put so many people through the rounds if the show is going going to cut the all so quickly.
As opposed to the past two seasons, this year there will be no “Idol Gives Back” episode, but instead producers have brought back the fan favorite Wild Card Round, with the Top 12 finalists decided by March 10th. I understand the effort to try to change things up and keep the show current, but when American Idol loses talented singers in the process it sort of defeats the purpose.
I’d just like to ask the producers to put down Paula’s the drugs they’ve been smoking and get their head in the game again.
Just in case you were wondering about the rule changes, here is an excerpt from Wikipedia on the American Idol’s new rules:
Starting in the 2008 season, the structure of the Hollywood round was revamped. There were no longer musical group rounds (the group round was reintroduced in the 2009 season); rather, the contestants would sing on the first day and if the judges felt the performance was adequate, the contestant moved onto the final Hollywood round. If the performance was not up to par, the contestant would have one more chance to impress the judges before the final round. For the first time, contestants were allowed to perform with a musical instrument if they so desired.

I HOPE THE JUDGES PUT ANN MARIE THROUGH AS A WILDCARD PICK!! <3 I think that Ann Marie has a great voice. A lot of people said that she picked the wrong song but I think she picked it because she wanted to come out of her shell. This shows that she is a person that is willing to take risks and become more confident. Remember her audition? She was seen as shy in terms of star persona but now she seems more confident. She also has a genuine personality evident, she is always smiling and cheerful and she seems like a really fun person. She seems like a really humble person! She took the judges advices well on! During the group 1 performance, she almost transformed! Completely different look from her audition. She is also very attractive and this all adds up to a very likeable star persona. Although I'm sure that she can perform even better. Her brother Anthony actually added me on FB! He seems like a really nice guy as well and he has been working so hard to try and recruit people to vote for her. He has been commenting everywhere, on FB, joining grouops, spreading news, voting tips, joining pages. Unfortunately it didn't work out but I really think that she deserves to be in the top 12. I feel like she would do really well if she were given another chance. I personally think that Anoop Desai, Ricky Braddy and Ann Marie Boskovich are the best picks for the wildcard for group 1 choices. I really love Ann Marie and lots of people love her as well! Everyone loves their favourite contestant but there is just something that I really like able Ann Marie. I think that it would be an opportunity missed not to pick her for the wildcard round. Confused if they are still strict on the whole 6Male/6Female=Top12. So far, there are 4 males / 2 females definitely in. Let's pretend that for round three, two males & one female get in due to the 2nd male being the next highest vote-getter. That makes 6 males, 3 females. Does that mean during Wild Card week, only females get to perform for the slots because the 6 males slots are already filled? Or are mixed males/females performing...with a chance to get the top male/top female/runner-up slots? That would mean a possible 9 males and 3 females in the extreme -- if once again the next highest vote-getter is male. Curious?? Anyone know? Or....another way to put it, if round 3 produces 1 male & 2 females....that totals 5 males, 4 females. Wild card week: everyone performs, but due to them needing to keep 6 & 6 (if they DO, I dunno)...the rules are top male, top 2 females = 6/6. ?

i cannot stand adam lambert i hope he doesnt win i just think he is going to win is because the judges said he is going to win so i would never vote for him
