Mary Kate is the More Outrageous Olsen Twin

In this month’s “Interview” magazine, Mary Kate Olsen graces the cover with the vibe of a stylistically frozen ice Queen. Or Princess. She’s the other half of a dual team that is known for their multi-million dollar media company, DualStar Enteratainment, their clothing lines “The Row,” and “Elizabeth and James,” as well as being a fashion-forward, savvy trendspotter, actress, and author.  Did I mention that she’s only 22 years old?

She and her sister Ashley, have been in front of the camera since they were babies, and now are only realizing their style and individual personalities.  Mary Kate or MK, says that, “For me, fashion really started by looking at people.  When you’re walking down the street, or you’re at a restaurant, someone catches your eye.  Becuase they have their own look.  It goes way beyond what they’re wearing- into their mannerisms, the way they smile, or the way they hold themselves.

As for being the more outrageous fashion twin, MK says, “I think my first favorite clothing item was a pair of spandex shorts with fringe on them! Leopard and white spandex.”  Ashley is known for more of a classic sense of style.

One thing is for certain, this multi-hyphenate is inspired by the world around her to influence her already popular fashion brands.  How does she come up with the trends for her clothing line?  She says, “Well, an idea will come, whether from a movie, person, or character or a palce.  Then we go through color, silhouettes, and fabric.  We sort of put it all together, and find the common threads.

And she’s only just getting started.
