IHOP Free Pancake Day

By on February 24th, 2009

Yes, the home of the Rooty Tooty Fresh N’ Fruity (yes, that’s two eggs, two bacon strips, two pork sausage links and of course pancakes) is now also giving away free pancakes today, February 24th for Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras, from the hours of 7 AM to 10 PM. Usually when one thinks of Fat Tuesday, he or she thinks of New Orleans, the parades, beads, and lots of fried Southern food. Well, how about pancakes? IHOP, or formally known as the International House of Pancakes is now serving free short stacks in exchange for each customer donating to the Children’s Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for Children’s hospitals.

IHOP’s 2008 “Free Pancake Day,” raised over $875,000 for charities, and are hoping to reach $1,000,000 for 2009’s “Free Pancake Day.” And though we’re all trying to save money by staying in and eating, it’s okay to venture out today for a delicious stack of pancakes.

I definitely try to keep it healthy most of the time, but when a girl wants pancakes, you have to do it right. What does that mean? Okay, that means, none of this low-carb, low-fat, low-taste, low sugar nonsense. You need pancakes that are made with butter, eggs, and also have the right amount of fluffiness and taste. And oh yeah, there’s the matter of syrup, which I personally am a huge fan of the blueberry syrup with a dash of regular maple syrup.

Moderation is key, but hey, when you’re faced with a delicious stack of pancakes staring you in the face, and you know that you used that money to donate to a worthy charity like the Children’s Miracle Network, you should enjoy every last delicious bite.
