Valentine’s Day is over, thank goodness for us singletons, but there are still plenty of other romantic dates on the calendar like anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, etc. If you’re flying solo (and aren’t happy about it) then it’s best to set yourself up in the right mentality ahead of time so you don’t find yourself all sad and sorry for yourself and end up doing something stupid like drunk dialing an ex. Here’s how to survive almost any dreaded day of couples, love, and flowers with your dignity intact:

DO

Spend the day with your friends/bring another single friend along

Remember all the exes that you’re glad are gone

Celebrate the freedom and excitement of being single

Treat yourself to something special that makes you feel awesome (a new dress, pair of shoes, manicure, etc)

DON’T

Feel sorry for yourself

Try to reconnect (or drunk dial) ANY of your exes

Go hunting for a date (save that for another time)

Feel ashamed for being single
