NBC Nightly News Anchor Brian Williams is used to reporting depressing news, especially these days. From dismal and dreary jobs reports, Economic reports, Stock market reports, and more… it seems as though the negative news will never end.
So, what did he do? Before the end of this past Wednesday’s newscast, Williams asked American viewers, ” We’re looking for good news. Nominate people doing good work, perhaps a random or regular act of kindness in a cruel economy, and we’ll tell some of their stories.”
Well, he did get good news and was overwhelmed with the amount of e-mails and letters that he received and the good deeds that people are taking part in, helping their fellow American.
From stories that encompass a generous landlord to a woman who randomly goes up to strangers on the street to hand out money, Williams found that “It really told me something. I have learned a lot. I thought I knew all there was about the good nature of Americans, and this was a flood.”
In these rough Economic times, even a small amount of good news goes a long way to lift some one’s spirits. The best news though is that things WILL get better. That’s a fact.
