I have been doing Acupuncture for the last six months. I first went to see my Chinese Doctor back in August of 2008 after having many issues from cysts to being lethargic, having lower back pain, and generally feeling like crap.

My first visit, I told the Doctor how was feeling, what I was been eating, the medical issues I was experiencing, etc. The first thing he did was look at my tongue and check my pulse on both of my wrists. He looked at me and said ‘your body is extremely depleted and we have to do an overhaul on your diet, exercise, and incorporate meditation.

I thought, ‘wow’ just like that he came to that assessment. With a Western Doctor, you would have had to take several tests and rack up a bill of $1000 before getting any answers. From that point, we started to plan out my diet, incorporate some meditation practices and doing the treatments on a weekly basis.

Acupuncture is based on the universal life energy called Chi, or Qi. Feng Shui is also based on Chi. In terms of our body’s Chi, it’s to make sure this energy is properly circulating throughout us and if not it can cause all kinds of issues from pain to illness. Acupuncture works by stimulating certain points on our body to restore normal functions. It does everything from raising white blood counts, to stimulating the secretion of endorphins, to balancing hormones.

Acupuncture is not for everyone, especially if you are not comfortable with needles. However, if you are looking for alternative medicine and want to see a Doctor that is going to look at your overall health from diet to exercise and that actually cares, I highly recommend Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

If you live in Los Angeles, go to see Dr. Michael Yang L.A. at Pacific Medical Group.
