How to Get an Extension on Your Taxes

Does it seem like April 15th approaches more quickly every single year?  Do you have a headache thinking about when you might be able to make time to file your taxes?  No need to fret – you still have a full month – and if for some reason you are absolutely unable to make the time to file your taxes, you may be eligible for an automatic income tax extension!

To receive this automatic extension, you’ll need to file Form 4868 (available on the IRS’ website) by April 15th (but hey, we’re betting this form is a bit less intensive than your actual taxes).  If you do this, you may be eligible for a six-month extension on filing your taxes, which means you can handle it while on your summer vacation to the Caribbean (okay, maybe not, but it at least gives you a little more time to get everything sorted out).  But don’t forget – the sooner you file, the sooner you receive any type of refund or government incentive!
