Tween Dora the Explorer All Grown Up

Dora the Explorer, the lovable cartoon toddler, who was made popular with her memorable expeditions on Nickelodeon is all grown up. At least in the eyes of her creators. The “Dora the Explorer” franchise brought in more than 1 billion dollars in 04′ and the toy company Mattel believes they can repeat that with the new tween version coming out this fall.

The grown up “Dora” will be moving to the big city, starting her first year of middle school. The tween market is big money and if they can market Dora the same way they did to younger kids, the future looks bright. From dolls, backpacks games and accessories, the “Dora” brand is much more than a cartoon. Let’s just hope this doesn’t turn into “Dora in the City.”

For the most part, parents and adults are furious with this idea of a “grown up” Dora. The sketches have yet to come out for the new cartoon, but speculation around a shorter skirt and more revealing clothing are described around Dora’s wardrobe. Some parents also fear that there kids will look at how fast Dora grew up and try to mimic the cartoon characters new looks.
