LOVE. It’s the new British Condé Nast magazine (they also publish Vogue, Glamour, and W) that’s looking to push the limits of trends, fashion, and to some degree the perception of what is and isn’t beautiful. Loaded with gorgeous photography and focusing on style and celebrities more than anything else, the launch will certainly be a memorable one thanks to the eyecatching cover. Beth Ditto, a British singer and gossip columnist, appears totally nude — concealed only by a pink tutu and some very strategic airbrushing.
Naked cover models are nothing new to the magazine world (the recent Jennifer Aniston for GQ comes to mind) but naked and generously-sized certainly is. Beth oozes confidence, all her roly-poly goodness highlighted in shades of minty green and bright pink, along with crazy hair and lots of makeup. LOVE editor-in-chief Kathy Grand is aiming to celebrate celebrities for what we really love about them, and she summed up the awesomeness of this cover by saying “Everything about the way that Beth looks reminds us not of her imperfections but our own. She has self-assurance and confidence by the truckload. She is happy with who she is and the way she is. Don’t we all wish that we woke up in the morning and felt like that?”
Heck, I certainly do.
