Fashion design sensation, Alexander McQueen came from humble beginnings as his father was a Taxi cab driver in London. He quickly realized his calling as a designer and locked up an apprenticeship with Anderson & Sheppard before studying at London’s prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
He spent time designing for luxury brand Givenchy and aroused the critics with his out-of-the box designs before being awarded the British Designer of the Year award four times. He was also named International Fashion Designer of the Year during this period.
His accesssories and style are never common and have a structured element to them that have won him fans from top celebrities to the grunge girl, and his lines have been exclusive to the top department stores and specialty shops until last November, he announced with McQ Alexander McQueen for Target would be launched as part of Target’s “Designer Collaborations,” that brings established designers clothing to the rest of us.
His new line hits stores March 4, 2009, so get ready to go to Target and fight for those sizes! The line ranges from $19-$129, and here’s a first look at the collection.
