Well, it’s none other than SNL’s Andy Samberg!
The announcement for the MTV Movie Host may not be as exciting as the host for the Oscars or the Grammys. However, considering Samberg has become well-known as part of the SNL crew and putting Youtube on the map with “The ‘Chronicles’ of Narnia” SNL video, people will be paying attention.
This will be the 18th annual MTV Movie awards which will be held at the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, CA. No doubt this year’s awards will probably be dominated by Twilight and Dark Night, but I’m sure we are going to see some outtakes from movies like Pineapple Express and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
What I didn’t know is that Andy was a writer for the Movie Awards before making it big on SNL. Like Samberg said, it’s a “sweet and satisfying homecoming” to be host.
Tune in on May 31st for what will be another hilariously entertaining MTV Movie Awards. I’m wondering if Andy will do anything with his ‘box’? If he does, I hope he brings his box-partner-in-crime along Justin Timberlake.

this guy is great on snl, i wonder how he’ll do as a host. hopefully better than as a lead actor (hot rod anybody?)
I honestly have never heard of this guy in my life…Sometime MTV just goes out on a limb and tries to find no-name who can act…Russell Brandt is a perfect example of this…
