Britney Spears Seeking Amy Lyrics

It seems as though our favorite Comeback Queen of the moment, Britney Spears, is up an upswing with her new “Circus” album, a new tour, and she has that toned body back!  But wait, is there controversey brewing in the air?

Her most recent track, “If You Seek Amy,” has caused quite a stir lately with its risque lyrics that seem perfect innocent until you really LISTEN to the lyrics.  Here’s a sampling:

“Love me hate me, say what you want about me
But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy
Love me hate me, but can’t you see what I see?
All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy

Yes, its quite obvious that if you quickly say, “If You Seek Amy,” then the meaning doesn’t seem so innocent.  Parents along with the Parents Television Council are up in arms over the lyrics of this particular Britney song, and they do have a point.  Can you imagine legions of 10 year old girls singing these lyrics?  That’s disturbing.

Parents Television Council President Tim Winter says, “There is no misinterpreting the lyrics to this song, and it’s certainly not about a girl named Amy.  It’s one thing for a song with these lyrics to be included on a CD so that fans who wish to hear it can do so, but it’s an entirely different matter when this song is played over the publicly owned airwaves, especially at a time when children are likely to be in the listening audience.”

Now we know for sure that Britney is back.  Courting controversy is business as usual.
