I remember watching the Tyra Banks Show where she dished over her favorite beauty products and beauty secrets.  The most surprising one was when she said that her mother used Vaseline Petroleum Jelly as her eye cream, and to this day, Tyra Bank’s mother has no wrinkles.   And that’s when I realized that drugstore brands are just as good, if not better than those expensive department store brands.

Here are my faves:

Maybelline’s Great Lash Mascara- I love, love, love this mascara which does the trick by giving you full, voluminous lashes for under $5.  No wonder it’s ubiquitous in makeup bags everywhere.

St. Ives Apricot Scrub- Another drugstore favorite. This facial scrub with its peachy smell does an excellent job at exfoliating dead skin, and creating a glowing complexion. (Price: $2.90 at most major drugstores)

Oil of Olay Products-  I’m a huge fan of their “Total Effects”, line especially their “7 in 1 Anti-Aging Moisturizer,” which has 7 vitamins and minerals including Vitamin B3, Vitamin E, and Pro-vitamin B5.  A staple in my makeup bag. ($5-$45 at Most major drugstores)

Aveeno Products – I’ve been using Aveeno products since high school, and they’ve never caused me to break out.  Perhaps it’s the soy complex or it’s light, oil-free texture.  My current favorite is the “Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF,” because it moisturizes without feeling greasy. ($5-$45 at Most Major Drugstores)

Origins Clear Improvement Clay Mask- When your pores get clogged or your face is experiencing breakouts, I’d suggest using this mask.  For some reason, after using this, your skin literally feels cleaner.  Do this before you go to sleep, and you’ll wake up with clearer skin.  Seriously. ($21 at Origins.com)
