Twilight DVD Release Frenzy!

The DVD release for the uber-smash hit movie, Twilight, happened recently on Friday March 20th. All across the country young girls were lining up ready to get their DVD, and a few other surprises, precisely at midnight.

One of the locations was at Hot Topic at the Hollywood & Highland mall. Even though the DVD release was not happening until midnight, young girls had been lined up since late afternoon. The crowd quickly swelled to a few hundred as it approached midnight. Then low and behold one of the stars of the film, Ashley Greene, surprised the crowd and everyone went wild.

Since late January, my neighborhood Blockbuster was advertising when the DVD would be released and that you could reserve a copy for yourself. That’s almost three months before the release date. I don’t remember the last time a movie had so much hype. After only getting through half of the book and not being really impressed, I thought, maybe the movie will be better. Everyone I know that had seen it, really enjoyed it. Even people that are super picky about the movies they watch, all said it was a very good flick.

Well, on Saturday night, I rented a copy and I have to say…it was great. For me, it was much better than the book. I know I am practically the only one that did not like the book, but the only reason is, it took so long for the love story to get established. The movie captured the essence of the book perfectly. Not to mention, the way it was filmed was beautifully done.

If you like the whole vampire genre with a love story then definitely see Twilight. Can’t wait for the next movie to be released!
