Beth Ditto Goes High Fashion

Current Punk pricess, Beth Ditto of the band, Gossip, is not exactly your typical Conde Nast cover girl.  Blonde hair. Nope. Size 2 body. Nope.  A role in an upcoming Jerry Bruckheimer movie. Nope.

Actually, she’s a punk singer who more curvaceous than anything else, and most recently posed nude on the cover of Conde Nast’s new publication, Love.  Known for taking off her underwear during performances and throwing them into the crowd, Ditto is used to courting attention and controversy.  What’s her secret? Well, she doesn’t seem to care what anyone thinks which is the kind of quality that everyone can be enticed by.

Originally from Arkansas, Ditto and her bandmates used to play shows while living in an apartment in Hoboken and considers herself a “Fashion virgin.”  She says, ““From the punk perspective, doing things like coming to Paris and going to all the fashion shows would be the downfall of your art. Punk can be very dogmatic and judgmental.”

But for this past week’s Paris fashion week, Beth Ditto was seen sitting at the front rows of all the shows including Fendi, Jean Paul Gautier, and Stella McCartney.   It seems as though this punk princess is turning into a bit of a fashionable swan.  Only in Paris.
