My mother has accused a neighbor & her family of stealing her checkbook & address book- also says that people are coming her house when she is gone,to take things- she is also very hard to get along with,will not let family help her-need more info on signs,symptoms of Dementia-HELP

My dad has had dementia since June and it has steadily been getting worse. He is becoming very violent, trying to punch people and bite them. Sometimes he knows me and is sweet and loving like he used to be and sometimes he gets this look in his eyes and sudenly he thinks someone is trying to kidnap him and he is trying to get away from everbody. He was in an assisted living place but he became too violent for them to handle so now he is in the hospital because his heart is very slow and his kidneys are shutting down. But if he recovers from this I have to find another place to put him. It has become very hard. This is not the father I grew up with. He was always loving and wonderful. Is there anyone else with this problem? and what can I do?

I know how all of you feel. I lost my father over 3 years ago and my mom has had a progressive decline both physically and mentally. She is 85 yrs.old and has been medically diagnosised with dementia and multiple tia’s. Recent hospitalizations d/t problems with pacemaker placement. The last resulting with sepsis, left hand weakness from another tia and inability to be independent with activities of daily function. Steadily reliant on daughters and taking a toll. Still lives in her own home and receiving medicare home services due to recent nursing home placement but time is running out. Becomimg more needy and agitated with daughters that are trying to meet her needs and ensure her happiness. Promised her that she will not go back to a nursing home but future looks grim. Don’t know how long her daughters can manage her quality of living at her own home. Love her and will try to continue to assist her with advancing age and her desire to be home.

My mother was diagnosed with dementia. She is very mean and won’t corporate with her family and won’t let us bring anyone in to help her, she’s good one day and tomorrow she is hard to control her. I could say more but I need help and don’t know what to do. She says we stole all of her clothes out of her room, and someone tried to take her headboard one night. She is very hard to get alone with the family. Everything you do for her, its a problem, from food to washing her hair. HELP!

I just maybe not looked deep enough, but is there and part of having Alzheimer Vascular Dementia that causes severe constant headaches, like having a paving stone on ones head whilst standing orin the sitting position, but when laying down, the heaviness subsides a little bit but still maintains the headpains. The person I’m talking about is my wife and she has virtually lost her short-term memory but still remembers long-term memory. And its these long-term memories that is repeated over and over again?

my mother was just told she is in the begining stages of dimentia she gets lost and has been forgeting things im wondering how long it will be until she forgets me and how long will she live how much time do i have?

a friend of my mine who lives in leicester her dad has mild dementia but is in need of a 24 hr care home, th one he is in does not seem to be the right one as he has been accused of lashing out at the starve which is not like her dad at all, when he was in temp nursing home he was there 4 months and they had no problems with him, and my poor friend who is disabled is finding it hard to get any answers and is stressed as she worried about her dad,she wants the best for him and she was told he dont have long to live either, and they did have a social worker but now dont cos he was back and forth to hospital, is there someone she can turn for help we have people for cancer help and advise is there one for dementia and the best 24 care

my great grandfather has had dementia or alzeimers for about 8 months to a year now. He’s a 90 year who abousolutly loved to fish and show me how to golf like a pro. He use to teach golf. Now because of this stupid condition he can’t what he loves and is stuck going in and out of care homes. He’s propably not gonna make it to christmas and that has been very hard on my family. thankyou for reading my comment and my name is caylin bonser and i am 11 years old.

I have been working with altzheimer and dementia pts for almost a year and it is very challenging. I think u need more in depth information.Explain all the different stages, etc. I have also noticed when my residents wives come to visit them they refer to them as their mother, it happens very often.

My dad woke up from a 10 min. nap and could not remember that his sister has been on oxygen for the last 6 months and that my uncle had a stroke. That we did not have a rain storm the day before and his sister lives next door.
Had heart surgery in 2008.

My grandmother has a history of strokes, One MAJOR about 12-15 yrs. ago. But, she VERY recently has started falling around and pulling to one side. She has also started behaving VERY childish! We have HAD to start putting depends on her at ALL times, Bc she seems to be receiving a “late notice” that she needs to’go’/urinate. We are concerned because, as of right now, ONLY three of us have been taking turns staying at her home with her. This is VEY stressful for us, but we do NOT want her to be in a nursing home!Ten-12 years back, shortly after her first stroke, she started shaking, UNcontrollably! Her neurologist, at that time as Dr. Marx, and he has since retired, BUT I can recall her phoning me AFTER her ofice visit with him — She said that he told her she has the beginning stages of Parkinson’s Disease! I REALLY did NOT know what to think, BUT… after that initial ‘diagnosis’ she was NEVER put on ANY type of medicine to help with the shaking, which has gotten increasingly worse! Different doctors that she is NOW seeing, have said that hey are NOT able to find this diagnosis in ANY of her files? Is there ANY test hat we can have run to prove IF she does, indeed have Parkinsons, or what kind of specialist do we need to take her to see about this problem? Do some of the above mentioned symptoms ‘follow BOTH dementia and Parkinsons? PLEASE, get back to me ASAP at the e-mail address above. I DO, SO appreciate ANY suggestions or information which you can supply!
