Top Five Things I’ve Learned By Working With a Bunch of Dudes

Men. They’re confusing…well, not really. I used to work with only men at my former job, and there were some interesting things I’ve learned about the male species by being surrounded by them in the workplace. They’re actually quite simple beings. Here’s the top Five things I’ve learned from working with them, exclusively.
5) Men are primal
Eat. Sleep. Sex. Ego. Work. Warfare (either via video games, fantasy sports leagues, verbal sparring,Paintball, MC rap battles, actual physical sports)
4) Be direct and say what you mean
Don’t sugarcoat things or think that they’ll understand what you “REALLY” mean. They’re not your best friend who will know that when you say “I’m Fine,” what you really mean is that you need a chick flick, junk food, a crying session or retail therapy. Just like 1 plus 1 = 2, if you want a guy to do something, ask directly.
3) Competition
Guys are competitive. Everything is based on performance and a game-like mentality. Understand this and pick your battles
2) Dress the part
If you want to be taken seriously in dude-filled office, keep the skin-showing to a minimum. You can rock the low-cut dresses and revealing outfits for Friday nights at the club. Or at your local “Rock Band” competition.
1) Assert yourself.
There is no need to be bitchy, but firmly state your thoughts and point of view in a clear and concise manner. There’s no guarantee that they’ll listen to you, but you will be heard.
