How To Avoid Junk Food

I’m not one of those gals with an amazing metabolism that can eat whatever she wants and never work out. For some reason, I had lots of friends who possessed this enviable quality and it was really annoying to watch them inhale Big Macs while I had to eat healthier.

The good thing about this though, is that you’re forced to learn how to eat nutritious foods and do this thing called exercise, a.k.a, moving your booty.  But with junk food all around me, I had to devise a scheme to avoid it or I wouldn’t be able to fit into my jeans.  Here’s some tips:

Have a little bit-  Okay, so don’t eat the whole bag of chips or the entire candy bar, but if you have a small piece of the real deal, you won’t feel deprived and overeat.  I’d take a real piece of Godiva over a chocolate flavored protein bar anyway.  There’s something about quality that makes you want to savor it.

Don’t keep Junk Food in the House- This is a VERY helpful way to avoid eating crap because you literally can’t see it. Out of sight. Out of mind.  But if your boyfriend brings over some delicious pizza or fast food, you have to keep up your defenses.  Then again, Pizza is SO GOOD!

Eat more Produce- I’m not saying that you should become a rabbit, but if you train yourself to eat more fruits and vegetables, you actually start craving them.  This means that you crave less fatty/greasy foods which is the point.

Work out-  Yup, exercise can be annoying but it can also be cathartic and it releases endorphins, burns calories and does wonders for you mood and focus.  The more you make exercise a regular part of your life, the less you’ll want junk food.  Or if you’re still hankering for junk food,  you can at least burn it off.

If anything, having a healthy attitude towards your body is best.  Moderation is key…
