With the Fed worried about the worsening Economy, a rising unemployment rate, and Layoffs becoming commonplace, saying that times are tough is a bit of an understatement.
The Federal Reserve used their March meeting to give a $1.2. trillion infusion into the Economy that would serve to drive down interest rates and prod Americans to start becoming active consumers again. But consumers of all income levels have shut their pocketbooks and wallets, as uncertainty has caused almost everyone to question whether they need to make non-essential purchases.
Well, Fox Networks has decided to make a reality show called, “Someone’s Gotta Go,” about layoffs in which a small business will lay off a different employee each week. The producers behind “Big Brother,” and “Deal or No Deal,” are behind the unscripted series which will also have a Business consultant at the small business each week to give advice as to how to make the business more efficient.
We are living in uncertain times, and this particular reality show will be putting the microscope on this very sensitive issue. My only question is how viewers will respond to it? Will they watch because they relate to the employees who are laid off or will they turn away because the issue hits too close to home?
We’ll see what happens.
