Genetech announced today that they will be removing psoriasis drug Raptiva from the market after finding out that it could cause a rare fatal disease of the central nervous system. June 9th, 2009 is the official date that these drugs will be removed from circulation.
According to Drugs.com, prescriptions of this drug should be halted and patients should stop any further usage. The total count of those using in Raptiva in the United States is around 2,000 and only one has died from this fairly new discovery. As of 2008, warnings about the side effects of the drug were listed on Raptiva labels.
Whenever using any kind of drug I tend to weigh the benefits with the risk. If the side effects are more harmful than my symptoms I tend to stay away from the drug. But Nowadays it seems as if the side effects are always worse than the symptoms and cause more trouble than good. That’s why I try to stick to homeopathic medicine.
