When I think of a Billiards hall, the image that comes to mind is of a bunch of 20-something men, being loud and drinking beers while trying to make that perfect shot. But obviously I need to update my thoughts about the game of pool as women are making their presence known in the world of Billiards. Jennifer Barretta is an example of the reason why.
Jennifer Barretta is one of the four players left in the Pro Players Championship Finals and she will be facing off against Yu Ram Cha while Allison Fishers takes on Kim Shaw. The winners for each round will face off for the final $3,000 prize.
Born in Norristown, PA, Barretta got her start as one of the top female 9 ball players through long days of practicing her shot and achieving”Touring Pro” Status with the Women’s Professional Billiards Association. She ranked #1 during an ESPN televised billiards match and finished in 3rd place. She’s also been the AAU “Ms. Philadelphia,” fitness winner and was a tomboy early on in life, which is probably where she got that competitive spirit.
But she’s no wallflower and has definitely used her good looks to her advantage as she’s been voted into ESPN’s “25 Sexiest Female Athletes of 2005,” as well as being featured in mens’ magazines from Playboy to Maxim to FHM.
