Harem Pants and Shoulder Pads Should Go Back Where They Came From

You may have noticed that 80′s fashion is all the rage these days. Neon clothing, leggings, graphic tees, and acid-washed jeans.  Well, what about shoulder pads?  I was a kid when this fashion trend was popular, but all I remember is my Kindergarten teacher who would wear shoulder pads religiously.  I always thought that she had a parrot or something because the huge shoulder pads would have provided  a perfect perch for any small bird.

Well, in the world of High Fashion, Louis Vuitton to Givenchy showcased these shoulder pads that are trendy for Spring 2009 collections everywhere.  Even Philip Lim and Calvin Klein added some shoulder to their 2009 collections, though they made theirs more minimal and moderate.

Is it just me or do shoulder pads make you look as though you should be scrimmaging with the football team before Homecoming?  And let’s not forget the Harem pants that have been making their way across runways and fashion shows everywhere.  Although this style of pants would be sufficient on models, harem pants would most likely not be flattering on your average woman as these loose-fitting pants look as though you could drop items into them and they would disappear into the abyss.

If you are a fan of both shoulder pads and harem pants, I apologize for offending you, but I think that these clothing items should go back to where they came from. ASAP.
