You may have heard of Retailanarchy.com, a blog about consumerism by Sam Pocker, a retail industry blogger, who uses his blog to take a stand against blatant marketing and consumerism. His new book named, Retail Anarchy; A Radical Shopper’s Adventures in Consumption, has drawn a lot of buzz from fans and critics alike about his approach that is beloved by his readers and hated by Corporate marketers.
San Pocker, of Queens NY, says that he carries a briefcase of coupons wherever he goes because there are always deals to be had.
He says, “There is so much competition in New York that the opportunities to save are endless. You can get coupons in places you wouldn’t imagine.”
In his new book, Pocker talks about consumerism, brand loyalty and marketing schemes that tell consumers how to keep a look out for products that say they add value, but do not. He also has a radio show called YMMV that “is a talk show about bargains, sales, and freebies.”
In these trying times, everyone is trying to save a buck or two. My guess is that his book will be one purchase that consumers will fork over the money to pay for.
