Since she burst onto the country music scene as a young girl with the hit, “Blue,” we were enthralled by the huge voice that came from LeAnn Rimes. Since then, she’s grown up, had more hit songs, and gotten married.
But in recent days, she’s come under fire for her alleged affair with Eddie Cibrian, her co-star in the Lifetime TV movie, “Northern Lights.” Gossip mags were abuzz over the supposed tryst, but she went on the Today Show recently to talk about something more positive, her book entitled, “What I Cannot Change.”
In the book, Rimes discusses life issues that most of us can relate to, which is when we are faced with things that we cannot change but must deal with even if its difficult. As a songwriter/singer, Rimes is used to using her voice and words to convey emotions to her audiences. She says,
“I admit it’s not easy to lay my soul bare — for one person to get to know me, let alone the whole world. Yet there’s also a beautiful, enlivening freedom in becoming transparent, to being vulnerable. It can be exhilarating and scary all at the same time. I know I’m definitely on the road to accepting myself for who I am. I’m learning to let that speak for itself, learning to love my real emotions and to let those emotions.”
And in the song she co-wrote with Darrell Brown entitled (you guessed it), “I Cannot Change,” she sings the most simple and yet poignant lyric.
“I’d like to let go of what I cannot change. I’d like to forget what I cannot change.”
I’m pretty sure that most of us can relate to this in some way.
