We first heard about the puppy that then Presidential nominee Barack Obama promised to his little girls, Malia and Sacha, because they had been on such good behavior as their father was campaigning.

Well, that time has come and though the White House had planned to unveil the news to the public on Tuesday, gossip sites from TMZ to a site called First Dog Charlie.  The little puppy is a 6 month old Portuguese water dog that was given to the Obamas by Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts.

The Washington Post first reported that the dog was to be named Bo because the Obama girls have a cat named Bo.  He’s a adorable little puppy with black fur, speckled white chest and a white goatee.  Their source, close to the Obama girls,” says, “He’s sooooo cute.  It’s very exciting. They had a great meeting.  And Malia has done extensive research.”

Considering all the huge changes that have occurred in recent months for these young girls, Malia and Sacha will most likely be careful and responsible guardians to this adorable new puppy.  As everyone with a pet knows, they’re probably the most loving creatures in the world and can provide comfort and care to their owners.

I want a puppy.
