Plastic Surgeon for Kanye West’s Mom Surrenders License

Dr. Jan Adams has finally surrendered his medical license. He is the Plastic Surgeon who performed on Kanye West’s Mom, Donda West, who died a day after her surgery in November 2007. The Medical Board of California has sought to suspend Adams license for the past two years because of multiple alcohol-related convictions.

The surrender of Adams medical license means he cannot practice medicine in the state of California. Adams is able to reapply for his license after three years, but the Board would have to carefully assess his drinking problem in order for that to be granted.

Ironically, the day after Adam’s license was suspended two years ago, he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. He pleaded no contest and began serving a year long sentence in Solano County jail February 6th.

With regards to Donda West’s death, in January 2008, Coroner’s officials ruled that her death was from a pre-existing artery disease and post-operative issues after the surgery. An investigation began late last year with West’s nephew who is a registered nurse and oversaw the her recuperation.
