Mel Gibson, the popular and successful actor, director, screenwriter, and Producer, is best known for his roles on the “Lethal Weapon,” films, “Braveheart,” and of course, the very profitable and controversial “Passion of the Christ,” which brought his Christian religion to the forefront of mainstream Hollywood.
His wife, Robyn Gibson had been married to him for 28 years and there is no evidence of a pre-nuptial agreement. This means that she is entitled to half of his fortune which is a whopping $500 million. Mel can keep the other half.
The numbers for Gibson’s assets are pretty astounding as “The Passion of the Christ,” grossed $600 million, Real Estate investments, along with $75 for Film and TV projects that Gibson Executive produced. As an actor, he’s also required to give his ex-wife half of his residual checks from all the films and TV projects that he’s acted in.
Considering that we’re in a tough Economic recession, we might look at Robyn’s situation and wonder what its like to inherit half a billion dollars. Then again, divorce is usually not a pretty picture and having your personal life splashed across newspapers and blogs probably isn’t so great.
If I were Robyn, I’d go buy my own island and chill out for a few months. I mean, the woman can afford it!
