Did You Watch The Cougar?

Last night was the premiere of The Cougar on TVLand. The Cougar, Stacey, is an attractive blonde and Mother of four from Arizona. Twenty young guys will be competing for her love on this dating reality show.

Stacey’s motivation for being on the show is that she believes society has placed a double-standard on women who date younger men. Ahh, hasn’t society already accepted older women dating younger men? Let’s see, there’s Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, Madonna and Guy Ritchie (I know, their marriage failed, but they still count), Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, just to name a few. I don’t really think that same double-standard still exists. 

The truth of the matter is, it’s another reality show created for up-and-coming actors who can’t get work and has-been actors that need a job. I’m sure a number of people will tune in, but we’ll see if it has any real staying power. It’s from the creators of The Bachelor, which only makes sense, so right away we know what the general story line will be.
