Whitney Port’s City Drama

Whitney Port

Whitney Port, the Los Angeles fashionista, started off not wanting to be a part of the voyeuristic world of Reality Television.  She actually started working as an intern at Teen Vogue with the intent on working in fashion, and not headlining a reality TV show.

Well, life takes you on unexpected turns and though she stayed mostly on the sidelines on MTV’s “The Hills,” she is the protagonist of a new pseudo reality show called, “The City.”  Yes, this show is more scripted than the producers would like you to believe.  You have the evil nemesis or Olivia. You have the scruffy, but hot rocker boyfriend who is also a player.  You have the friends; one a model, one trying to figure out what to do with her life, and then there’s the wise one; Diane von Furstenberg or DVF, where Port works.

Whitney recently told Cosmopolitan magazine that this reality TV show is too much for her.  She says, “I break down a couple of times a week, at least. It gets overwhelming. Sometimes I think that I can’t take this anymore. I just want to live a normal life.”  You may remember that in this season, she had her credit taken from her at work, had her boyfriend possibly cheat on her, and let’s not forget that adjusting to life in the big, bad City is not as easy as you might think.

Yes, the attention can be overwhelming, but let’s be real. She’s making good money, has a sick Penthouse apartment, and is working for an icon, Diane von Furstenberg.  If anything, this show should toughen her up because that’s what New York does to you.  Trust me.
