Get Beautiful with Grapefruit

Ever smeared mayonnaise in your hair in an attempt to get extra shiny and super moisturized locks? How about rinsing it with beer? Or what about moisturizing your face with olive oil? There are a lot of crazy (and often downright gross) ‘home remedies’ for hair and skin care (I’ve always been curious but never brave enough to try any of them myself) and here’s yet another to add to the list: Grapefruit.

Apparently, grapefruit is good for more than just eating, and I have to admit using fruit juice sounds a little more realistic than slimy mayo or stinky beer. If you’re game, and I’m seriously thinking I might be, consider trying these tips for grapefruity beauty:

  • Mix 1/4 cup of grapefruit juice in with your favorite conditioner and use on your hair as your normally would for extra shiny, extra soft, locks.
  • Brighten and soften hands, nails, and cuticles by rubbing them with a fresh slice of grapefruit dipped in sugar.
  • Battle frown lines and look younger by eating grapefruit regularly — the Vitamin C supports collagen production (the building block of firm, youthful skin).
  • Get in bikini-shape in no time! Grapefruit juice is naturally fat free and has less than 100 calories per 8 oz serving.
