Franck’s Pharmacy in Ocala Florida Takes the Blame for Dead Polo Horses

polo

Last weekend Twirlit reported on the astonishing death of 21 polo horses from the Venezuelan polo team. The tragedy was especially surprising as it occurred in front of a full spectator stand right before the beginning of the U.S. Open Polo Championship. However, at the time the cause of death was unknown, which led to quite a lot of speculation. Now a reason has been found.

Apparently a pharmacy in Ocala, Florida had incorrectly prepared a supplement given to the 21 horses. According to reports, one of the ingredients in the supplement was too strong and it was this imbalance in the medication that caused the horses to topple over and die. Which ingredient that was is still unknown.

So far the pharmacy has been very helpful in the investigation and has been cooperating with both state authorities and FDA officials. No blame has been passed yet, so we’ll just have to wait and see if it was a honest mistake or not.
