How Heavy is Your Handbag?

According to an article in Woman’s Day the average purse weighs almost 4 lbs and has an average of 67 items in it. Good grief ladies, do we really need all of our stuff with us at every moment?
You’re probably thinking “yes, yes I DO need everything that’s in my bag right now,” and although I can’t say I disagree with you your body might. Lugging around a too-heavy-handbag can cause neck strain, shoulder pain, and tension headaches, but thankfully you can avoid all that unpleasantness by lightening up your load even just a little.
- Start by sorting out all the clutter and other the stuff you’ve been hauling around just because (for example I once had an old padlock floating around in the bottom of a tote bag for months)
- Choose a handbag that isn’t made with heavy materials like thick leather, lots of metal hardware, or chain straps. Straw, canvas, and cotton bags are good options (and especially perfect for spring and summer!).
- Par down the contents to just what you really use and need on a daily or semi-daily basis, and be ready — you might have to be brutal with yourself (one or two lip gloss shades is plenty, seriously).
