Looks like Swine Flu is the newest virus threatening North America. After killing 61 people in Mexico and sickening another thousand, swine or “Pig Flu” is making its way to the United States. So far only 7 cases have been reported in California and Texas, but the World Health Organization believes this could be more than just a passing flu. Although usually rare in humans, this strain seems to be different. The symptoms of swine flu are similar to the regular flu including fever, cough, fatigue and lack of appetite.
The White House and President Obama have been notified of the 7 cases and are monitoring any other possible outbreaks. The WHO reminds the general public to stay away from large crowded events and busy areas. Also, informing your children about washing there hands and if possible, getting them vaccinated.

The CDC has confirmed that you cannot catch Swine Flu from eating pork- there are two obvious reasons why... 1) If the meat is well cooked, as it should be, the flu virus and most other bacteria/ viruses will have been killed by the temperature. 2) Swine flu, as with any other flu, is a respiratory disease. Unless you're inhaling uncooked pork, I seriously doubt you'll catch it that way. Just try to prevent it like you would any other strain of flu- cover your nose/ mouth, wash your hands, etc. etc. Thought I'd add my two cents... Oh and I wouldn't get too worked up over this new disease... Some parts of Mexico aren't well renowned for their cleanliness or medical surplus anyway... Plus, don't we all remember how hyped everyone got over the avian flu? Worst case scenario, if DO catch it, the virus is weak to Oseltamivir and Zanamivir, so it's not like you have a high chance of dying anyway.

Hm, ive had a sore throat for about 7 days now. I thought it was allergies, but sometimes it goes into a fever. Then the fever breaks, and im normal again, except i still have sore throat, then it repeats itself again. I also cant find a good set of symptoms, i dont have health insurance, and i cant get work off, they would fire me. This is exactly why if this type of virus is going around, it wont be stopped, because people cant afford it, and businesses wont let them.

My 9 month year old daughter was diagnosed with swine flu and she couldnt over come it. It took over her whole entire body and she ended up dying 2 weeks ago. I dont appreciate people saying that the Swine Flu isn't serious because it is getting more worse than you think. I didnt think anything of it until my baby girl died.
