The website FBAction.net has launched a phishing attack against the popular social networking website Facebook today. The phishing attack works by stealing your login information, logging into your account and then spamming the attack to everyone on your friend list. So far the attack has been limited to the Facebook inbox, where it appears with “Hello” in the subject line and a link to fbaction.net in the inbox (the link however is disguised as a Facebook URL). Once a user clicks on the link it then brings them to a fake Facebook login page, where if you input your login information it will then steal it.
As of now there has been no sign of viruses, bugs or any other nasty web-things attached to the phishing attack and thus far has proven to be little more than a nuance. However, you can never be too sure with these things, as it’s hard to know what it’s done with your login information. So be sure to avoid this attack and alert your friends not to open it.
Remember now: unless the URL in your browser says Facebook.com, never input your login information. This of course also goes for any other password protected websites.
Facebook is currently working to disable the attack.
