The fear and anxiety over swine flu is not going away at this point as President Obama confirmed the first swine flu-related death in the United States. The casualty was a 23 month year old Mexican child who died in Texas and the death was confirmed by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Center for Disease Control notes that the human swine flu outbreak is growing not only in the U.S. but across the world. It reports that the World Health Organization has also raised the pandemic alert level to Phase 4, which is “characterized by confirmed person-to-person spread of a new influenza virus able to cause community-level outbreaks.”
As of this posting, there are 66 confirmed cases of human swine flu throughout the United States and the World Health Organization confirmed a total of 105 cases in seven countries.
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger called for a state of Emergency as a response to this recent crisis as California has 11 confirmed swine flu cases, but the most amount of confirmed U.S. cases is in New York City with 45 confirmed cases.
President Obama stated that the U.S. government is doing all that it can to control the virus and urged for school closings should the swine flu virus continue to spread.

This is where not telling the whole story is almost a lie. Yes, a child of illegal immigrants seeking better health care in America died. It was not an American resident. But this story does raise an interesting question. How safe is America if illegals can smuggle a sick child into Houston for care and how many people were exposed to this illness on the way. Also, should we rename this flu the Obama flu since it happened on his watch.
