Oprah Teams With KFC For More Free Chicken

Remember last week when KFC decided to give away free samples of their new product, the Kentucky Grilled Chicken? Well, it looks like it was a success, as they’re doing it once again. That’s right, for those of you who missed your chance the last time around (or those looking to get some more free food), the good folks at KFC are giving you another shot. This time around though they’re pairing up with talk show host Oprah Winfrey.

As a part of Oprah’s daily Money Saving Tips, she is sending her TV viewers to Oprah.com/kfc where participants can print out up to three free two-piece meal coupons. The free meal includes two pieces of chicken, two sides and a biscuit. However, you will need to print the coupons out today before 11:00 PM ET (9:00 PM PST) in order to qualify. The coupons will then be good until May 19.

The new promotion is a part of KFC’s “Unthink” campaign, a campaign built to change KFC’s image from that of a greasy fried chicken joint to one of a health-conscious grilled chicken restaurant. The idea is to “unthink what you thought about KFC.” Not sure how well this new campaign will work, but I have to say, free food is always a good start.

Let’s just hope the new change tastes as good as the original “secret” recipe. Anyone tried it out yet?

  3. Whoa….I tried it today and can you say, delicious grilled chicken?

Now let’s watch the other restaurants try and follow with grilled chicken

I knew there was a reason why I love Oprah so much!

  6. Last time KFC offered this giveaway, they claimed to be so overwhelmed that they stopped honouring the coupons just a day or so after they were issued. I don’t know why they’re trying it again, and am sure many KFC locations will opt-out of honouring the coupons (even though you won’t find that out until after you’re at the counter). All I got out of KFC the first time around was wasted paper and ink… I certainly won’t be wasting any again.
