McDonalds and Starbucks in Coffee War!

mcds-vs-starbucks-1

The McDonalds Corp. seems to one of the few corporations that are not feeling the effects of our current Recession.  Instead, they’re reporting record profits from the popularity of their Dollar menu and have even introduced a line of specialty coffees called McCafe line of espresso drinks which has lower-priced drinks such as lattes, mochas, iced coffees, and more.  They’ve spent over $100 million in a huge marketing campaign that plans to get the message out about their new line of espresso drinks and this has one competitor more than a bit worried.

Before the Recession hit, Starbucks was the unrivaled King of Coffee and most people didn’t think twice about grabbing $5 latte drinks on a daily basis.  But now, things have changed and Starbucks has watched its sales decrease.

Starbucks is now trying to show that they’re also cost-conscious and announced that they will sell grande iced coffees for $1.95 through June 29th. This is 25 cents to 45 cents cheaper than usual.  As the summer heats up, so is the competition for those customers who are looking for refreshing iced coffee drinks but want to save some cash.

Well, if you really wanted to save some money, you could make a fresh brew at home and just add some ice and your milk of choice.  Just a thought.
