Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl Working on An Album

Leighton Meester

We know Leighton Meester as the diva Queen of the Upper East Side or “Blair Waldorf,” of CW’s hit show, “Gossip Girl.” As pained Blair Waldorf, the girl who never feels good enough or pretty enough next to her best friend, Serena van der Woodsen, she’s become quite the popular character on TV and the Internet.

What you might not know about Meester is that she’s also an aspiring singer-songwriter who is working on a Electro-Pop album with producers from Kenna to Polow da Don, and she says that the album is “Very pop. You can listen to it on the radio. You can listen to it in your car. You can dance to it.”

We first found out the Meester had some pipes when she sang the opening for the film, “Drive-Thru,” as well as leaking a cover of the song “Bette Davis Eyes,” onto the Internet.  Meester is currently prepping to shoot her upcoming film, “The Roomate,” and says that she’s loved music since she was very young.

Meester says,”I remember I was in the grocery store with my mom when I was little and I heard ‘I Will Always Love You,’ ” she says. “I must have been 3 or 4, and I went, ‘Mom, that made my back tingle.’ She was like, “That’s what music is supposed to do.’ I loved it.”

Considering that she’s one of many actresses who foray into the studio for a singing debut, I do think Meester has a unique sound and will definitely be looking to see how she fares as a singer.  What do you guys think?  Check out her cover of “Bette Davis Eyes.”
