Does anyone send mail anymore?  Well, I think that the recent 2 cent increase in postage rates just goes to show that it makes more sense to e-mail or fax your information rather than sending it snail mail.

Starting today May 11, the cost for mailing a letter in the United States is now 44 cents for the first ounce, up from 42 cents, which the United States Postal Service attributed to increased production costs.  The cost for other mailing items have increased, including postcards for 28 cents and large white envelopes costing 88 cents.

You can buy “Forever Stamps,” from USPS and with these, you can use them when the rate increases in the future without additional postage.  So get yourself to the Post office to grab some “Forever Stamps,” when you have a chance.  And from now on, why not just e-mail, fax, or scan your information so that you no longer have the need to buy stamps?

If you’re old-fashioned and just prefer sending or receiving that letter, make sure you bring those extra two pennies with you to the Post office.
