randy-pausch-1

Randy Pausch, the inspirational Carnegie Mellon Professor  found out that he had terminal pancreatic cancer and decided to spend his last days inspiring the world.   You may have seen his story all over the news including his Last Lecture: Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams.”

Pausch had a dream to be Captain Kirk from Star Trek and once JJ Abrams, the director of the Star Trek movie found out about Pausch’s request, Abrams wrote him an e-mail  inviting him to film a cameo.   If you remember, in the beginning of the Star Trek movie, he appears as a crewman on the starship Kelvin and says the line, “Captain, we have a visual.”

His Last Lecture has been blogged about, embedded on sites all across the Web, and it shows the strength of the human spirit even in the face of death.

Here are some of his most memorable quotes from the lecture:

“Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted”

“If you’re going to do anything that pioneering you will get those arrows in the back, and you just have to put up with it. I mean everything that could go wrong did go wrong”

“You just have to decide if you’re a Tigger or an Eeyore”

“Loyalty is a 2 Way Street”

“Be Good at Something. It makes you valuable”
