Arguments between Religious groups are behind the wars of present and past, and unfortunately, this looks to be a continuing trend.  But what happens when one devoted follower goes against his beliefs?  Well, this is the case with Bart Ehrman who stirred up controversy by going against his fundamental Christian beliefs.

Originally raised in an Episcopal Church in Kansas, Ehrman was a devoted Christian until he attended Princeton Theological Seminary to become a college Bible Professor.

Ehrman makes the following claims in his book, “Jesus, Interrupted,”

1) Doctrines such as the divinity of Jesus and heaven and hell are not based on anything Jesus or his earlier followers said.

2) At least 19 of the 27 books in the New Testament are forgeries.

3) Believing the Bible is infallible is not a condition for being a Christian.

4) That the Resurrection didn’t take place-  Ehrman says “I think some of the disciples had visions.”

Considering the upcoming release of the film, “Angels and Demons,” which is about a fictional character named Robert Langdon who uncovers secrets about the Catholic church, Ehrman is in the midst of a hot topic that will remain that way for the rest of time, most likely.

Ehrman’s reasoning for choosing to become agnostic is in one question, “How could there be a God when there is so much suffering in the world?

I went to a Christian University, and this sort of thing happened all the time. Once people were presented with the facts of their faith (along with the world) they had a hard time reconciling with it. Not sure if this guy is just trying to latch onto recent hype or whatever, but I must admit I'm interested in what he has to day.
